The invention is characterised by a feeding belt and a discharging belt which are each made up of sub-conveyor belts arranged parallel to one another and at a distance from one another. The sub-conveyor belts share a deflection roller which is designed to be displaceable in a reciprocating manner, causing the sub-conveyor belts of the feeding and discharging belts to become engaged with one another and form a flat line in the area of the shared deflection roller. A first light barrier is arranged above the shared deflection roller in its initial position, while another light barrier is arranged at a distance equal to the length of a group of formed bodies behind the first light barrier in the direction of feed of the clay extrudate, and this other light barrier sends a readiness signal to the first light barrier. The first light barrier is connected in such a way that when the readiness signal has been received, the drive which moves the shared deflection roller in the direction of feed of the clay extrudate can be switched on and the speed of the discharging belt can be increased. A third light barrier is arranged at a distance behind the second light barrier in the direction of feed of the clay extrudate and this third light barrier connects another delivery device when the group of formed bodies reaches it. The distances between the individual light barriers are designed to be adjustable in accordance with the length of the groups of formed bodies and the distance between them, to enable the device to be set to other formed body formats.
