The invention relates to a charge machine for charging a bore hole or storage site, having moulds delivered in shielding or transport flasks and containing highly radioactive wastes, by means of which the moulds are sunk into the bore hole directly from the flask, placed onto the opening of the bore hole, after actuating the charging and discharging closures of said flask while maintaining the shielding, and having a remote-controlled grab for gripping the mould, which grab is moved upwards and downwards in the bore hole by a cable with the aid of a hoisting unit. The task arises for the present invention of providing a charge machine for such a system, in which satisfactory shielding is guaranteed in all operating cycles, and in which all the phases of charging and discharging can be automated. The invention provides a charge machine which is particularly compact by contrast with the previously developed complicated hot cell technologies. Winch, grab, actuating drive for the transport flask closures, and the mechanics for remedying accidents are located in this case in one unit which simultaneously shields the transport flask at the top. During charging and discharging of the transport flask, the cargo is gripped directly by the grab without intermediate mechanical members.
