A contact device for bridging the overhead wires of electric toy and model railways at the transition point to a shunting platform, wherein a swivel plate is provided on a holding plate to attach an overhead wire to a cross girder at the edge of the pit of the shunting platform. Said swivel plate is swivellable about a vertical axis, lying in the plane of the overhead wire, by means of an end-side terminating part of the overhead wire of the shunting platform, is held in its central position by a restoring spring, and its lower edge lies on a level with the lower edge of the contact wire of the overhead wire, as do lateral sliding runners of the holding plate which bridge the distance between the end of the contact wire and the swivel plate.
