摘要

The brake or clutch has a driving shaft (1) which runs in a bearing in the housing (2). The end of the shaft is rigidly attached to a carrier disc (3) which has a number of equally spaced circular holes near its periphery. These holes support brake pads (4) in the form of circular discs. The brake pads have a central layer of asbestos fibre bonded to layers of conventional brake lining material. When the brake or clutch is actuated by applying an axial force P to the driven disc (5) the brake discs are compressed and the central layer is expanded radially to press against the surface of the holes in the carrier disc. This prevents vibration of the brake discs.
