The pallet is for use with a forklift truck and has a number of base strips (3) which are arranged parallel to each other and support pairs of blocks (1) arranged near the ends of the base. The blocks in adjacent strips are formed by a beam (20). The beams are covered by the top strips (41). A central support (12) is parallel to the beams (20), and an edge support (22) is fixed to one end. The edge of the base is chamfered at the centre (31). The pallet may be lifted in either direction.
