Use of insecticidal oxadiazolinone(s) - to combat infestation of rice cultures by green rice cicada

Green rice cicada (Nephotettix cincticeps) in rice cultures are killed by applicn. of an insecticidal compsn. contg. an oxadiazolinone of formula (I) (where R is 1-4C alkyl; R1 is 2-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxyalkyl or alkylthio, or CF3). (I) is known, having been described in FR 2299328. (I) may be formulated as a powder, wettable powder, granules or aq. emulsions, contg. conventional adjuvants. The applicn. rate is pref. 0.25-10 kg/ha. (I) is very effective against this species of cicada, esp. those that have developed resistance to carbamate, phosphoric or thiophosphoric ester insecticides.
