The turf maintenance machine has a chassis on which are mounted a set of oscillating cutters (200) which cut parallel drainage channels in the surface of the turf. The cutters are mounted on a common transverse beam (210) which is articulated on a transverse axis. Along the lower edge of each cutter is a reinforcing bar (206) which extends in a horizontal direction and is pointed at its front end. Another parallel reinforcing bar (208) is positioned above the lower bar and this also has a pointed forwardly directed tip.
