摘要

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is H or alkali metal) or its salt. USE:An agent for dissolving cholesterol gall stone. PREPARATION:Cunninghamella echinulate ST-22 strain (FERM-P No.7328) which is a mold belonging to Cunninghamella genus and capable of converting the 15beta- site of lithocholic acid (salt) to hydroxyl, is cultured, and the mold is made to contact with the lithocholic acid (salt) of formula II. The objective compound of formula I can be produced by recovering the 3alpha, 15beta-dihydroxy-5beta-cholanic acid (salt) converted from the lithocholic acid (salt).
