A hydraulic shear for cutting continuously cast ----- comprising a lower frame member, a top frame, member supported by the lower frame member, a top blade ---- extending downwardly from and supported by the top ----- ber, a lower blade holder extending upwardly from the ----- frame member and supported on the ram of a hydraulic ----- der, shearing or cutting blades mounted in the said blade -----ders, the hydraulic cylinder being mounted below the ----- frame member and adapted to force the lower blade ----- and the lower shearing blade upwardly means for supply and discharging hydraulic fluid to and from the hydraulic cylinder and means for causing travel of the hydraulic along with the billet and for the operating of the hydraulic cylinder for cutting the billet and restoring the hydraulic shear to its normal position after the cutting of the billion.
