Sound absorbent panels are made of thermoplastic material filled with metallic particles obtd. from breaking the slags of incinerated urban rubbish. The slabs are moulded to contain 30-65 (40-60) wt.% metallic particles, and may also incorporate fibrous fillers. Pref. the thermoplastic matrix is also made from recycled material, e.g. used polyethylene bags for agricultural prods. Used for mfr. of low cost building insulation panels, typically 560 x 270 cm and 3-4 cm thick.
