ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREIn the diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases aswell as medical researches in relation thereto studies leadingto diferentiation, identification, enumeration and followingthe variations in human blood, leukocytes play a vital role.Heretofore, accurate detailed lengthy and arduous procedureswere essential to such ends, if available. In a parent case,of which this is a continuation-in-part, it was found selectiveuse of certain basic quaternary, metachromatic dye stainingby supravital techniques made possible instantaneous opticaldifferentiation of the five major individual leukocyte species.Here further research has revealed that with but one of thespecies of the dye class above one can by the same techniquesmake the foregoing determinations with regard to specificleukocytes including promyelocytes, myelocytes, metamyelocytes,band cells, T-cells and B-cells as well as the neutrophils,eosinophils, basophils and monocytes of the parent disclosure.
