PROCESS FOR UTILIZING THE REACTION HEAT DURING THE AMMONIA SYNTHESIS

During the ammonia synthesis, the released reaction heat may be used in a circuit of which the working fluid is ammonia. In an ammonia production plant having a capacity of 1000 tons per day, it is thereby possible to obtain a mechanical power of 8.5 MW. The energy obtained may be conveniently used to actuate cooling compressors. An over-all economy of 20% of fuel may be obtained with respect to existing plants. The process improves the security of the plant and simplifies its operation.
