De(mycinosyloxy)tylosin derivs. (I) were prod. by fermentation of Streptomyces fradiae ATCC 31733 in a medium contg. assimible C,N, and minerals under aerobic condition. Thus, the 2nd stage broth of S. fradiae was inoculated into the medium contg. 0.875 fish meal, 1.5 Corn flour, 0.875 Corn gluten, 0.2 sugarbeet, 3.0 soybean oil, 0.09 lecithin, and 91.32% H2O and incubated at pH 7.2. 28C for 8-9days with aeration and agitation. The broth(925 liter) was filtered and washed. The filtrate and washing was extd. with CH3CH2CO2CH3. The ext. was extd. with H3PO4 soln. The aq. soln. was extd. with CH2Cl2 and dried to give the solid. The solid was refluxed in CH3CH2CO2CH3 solvent to yield 4.5 g crude (I).
