The washing unit has two brushes (11) which can rotate about vertical axes. Each of these brushes, by means of their circumference, brushes over a gutter side wall. The brushes (11) are connected to a brush drive (12) and are each borne by a brush-bearing means (9) which can pivot about a vertical bearing column (5) and can be fixedly clamped thereon. The bearing column (5) is supported, via a vertically adjustable roller (15), on the gutter bottom (13) and is directly guided, in a vertically displaceable, but non-rotatable manner, in a guide which is intended to be rigidly attached to a clearing arm (1).
