The transmission link for a time division multiplex signal in one direction contains an injector (5), and the transmission link of the opposite direction contains a decoupler (12). These elements are used to couple or decouple a narrowband signal (ISDN1 or ISDN2) into or from a time division multiplex signal which contains a 5B/6B-coded broadband signal (DBS1, DBS2), in exchange for filler words. Said narrowband signal contains only 6B codewords such as are equal for a 5B codeword of the positive and negative group, which entails a low outlay on apparatus. This process is advantageous for inserting ISDN signals in video signals with a bit rate of 34 or 140 Mbit/s. IMAGE
