Mobile railway maintenance vehicle - uses limit switches controlling rotation and vertical movement of arm to ensure it does not contact electrified zones

The railway maintenance vehicle is mounted on bogies to run along railways and has a two part arm which permits it to perform operations on the track or on the track borders. The arm is adapted to accept a variety of tools to perform functions such as crushing, rail straightening, and trackside drilling. To ensure safety in an electrified rail environment the height of each part of the work arm is limited and the range of movement is limited. The lower arm is mounted at the base of the control cabin on a horizontally rotating turntable. An upper arm is pivoted from the end of the lower arm and carries the work attachment. Limit switches on the turntable and on both arms ensure that the arm cannot be moved beyond a set bound.
