The present invention relates to a keyboard key comprising means representing an identification inscription and electric means sensitive to the actuation of the key by an operator. The means representing an inscription comprise a matrix AFF of electro-optical elements arranged in the key 10 in order to be easily observed by the operator and associated with a control circuit COM linked to the electrodes of the electro-optical elements and adapted to generate, on the basis of a selected configuration, a set of control signals able to control the matrix AFF of electro-optical elements for displaying an inscription representing the function of the key in the said selected configuration.
