IMPROVEMENT IN THERMAL STABILITY OF STYRENE RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING HALOGEN-CONTAINING FLAME RETARDER

PURPOSE:To provide a styrene resin compsn. having greatly improved thermal stability, by adding zeolite to a styrene resin compsn. contg. a halogen-contg. flame retarder. CONSTITUTION:Zeolite-A of the formula (wherein X is 0-6) is added to a styrene resin compsn. contg. a halogen-contg. flame retarder. The Zeolite-A may be a natural or synthetic one and is used in a quantity of pref. 0.5-50pts. per 100pts.wt. halogen-contg. flame retarder. The blending of the compsn. is carried out in such a manner that the halogen-contg. flame retarder is added to the styrene resin, further the Zeolite-A is added thereto and the mixture is blended in a mixer such as a Henschel mixer or a Banbury mixer.
