SYSTEM FOR REDUCING ATTENUATION OF RADIO WAVE DUE TO WATER DROP

PURPOSE:To decrease the attenuation of a radio wave due to water drops such as rain, cloud or mist by irradiating radio waves of the same frequency and power from two antennas, selecting properly the phase and polarized wave direction and using a polarized wave rotating device to add both wave components at the reception side. CONSTITUTION:A conductor plate twisted slightly is put on the way of two circular waveguides, the polarized direction of electric fields, 1, 2 is shifted as shown in figure (a), a phase shifter is used to make them in phase or opposite phase and then sent. The synthesized electric field is shown in 5, 6 of figure (b). Thus, as the direction of the electric fields 1, 2 approaches without changing the quality of the electric fields 1, 2, the synthesized electric field 5 is decreased and the attenuation of components 1, 2 is decreased. In receiving the components 1, 2 by the polarization direction rotating device comprising circular waveguides W shown in figures c, d, e and twisted rotating fins 7-10, the electric charge distribution on the fins is obtained at the inlet as shown in the figure (c), and since the fins are rotated at the inlet as shown in the figure (c), and since the fins are rotated gradually and bonded at the outlet, the components are added and strengthened as shown in the figure (e). In giving a taper to the fins between the inlet and outlet, the major wave in the waveguide is led.
