OIL LEAK PREVENTING DEVICE FOR BEARING CASE OF ROTARY MACHINE

PURPOSE:To prevent leak of oil from a bearing case, by a method wherein a positive pressure is applied on the outer side of a shaft-extending-through part through utilization of wind produced by rotation of a coupling. CONSTITUTION:When a shaft 2 is rotated, wind is produced in a space between a windshield plate 8 and a flange 5b through the agitation effect of a tightening bolt 7 of a coupling 5. A part of the wind is introduced in a space between the windshield plate 8 and a case wall 1a by means of a wind intake part 10. During said flow, motion energy of the flowing wind is restored outside a shaft-extending-through gap 8 to a static pressure P2 higher than an internal pressure P1 in a bearing case 1 through the action of wind guide plates 11 and 12. This about completely prevents oil from leaking through the shaft- extending-through gap 8 by means of a pressure difference therebetween.
