PURPOSE:To separate phosphoric acid radicals from water completely and with high efficiency by adjusting the water to acidic condition, mixing gamma-Fe2O3 with the water and adsorbing the phosphoric acid radicals to the gamma-Fe2O3, and attracting the gamma-Fe2O3 adsorbing the phosphoric acid radicals to a permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION:The pH of the water contg. phosphoric acid radicals is adjusted to acidic pH. For example, gamma-Fe2O3 obtd. by heat-treating magnetite at ca.120 deg.C in the air, etc. is mixed with the pH-adjusted water, to adsorb the phosphoric acid radicals to the gamma-Fe2O3. Then, the gamma-Fe2O3 contg. adsorbed phosphoric acid radicals is attracted to an electromagnet or a permanent magnet to separate the radicals from water. As the result, phosphoric acid radicals can be separated and removed from several kinds of water contg. phosphoric acid radicals almost completely. Moreover, the treating time is shortened and the treating device is miniaturized as compared to conventional settling processes by adopting adsorption method to gamma-Fe2O3 and magnetic attraction to an electromagnet. Furthermore, the method is also applicable to water contg. phosphoric acid radicals contg. also other impurities by the use of a flocculant, etc. in combination.
