CHARACTER PATTERN INFORMATION SERVICE SYSTEM TO CABLE TELEVISION NETWORK TERMINAL EQUIPMENT

PURPOSE:To transmit character pattern information to already provided CATV equipment without using private terminal equipments by sending retrieved pictures from the center to a terminal equipment through a communication processor in response to the request of this terminal equipment. CONSTITUTION:Plural terminal equipments 6 connected to a CATV line 5 are polled by a polling device 3. If the equipment 6 has a request and this request is accepted by the device 3, the device 3 instructs a communication processor 2 to select a center, and center selection is performed in the processor 2. Then, information including a discrimination ID is sent to a direct information center 7, and ID check is performed in the center 7. If abnormality is not recognized as the result, an OK signal is transmitted together with the initial picture from the center 7 to the equipment 6 through the processor 2. A user sees the initial picture and depresses required keys to perform picture retrieval to the center 7 through the processor 2. Picture data retireved in the center 7 is sent to the equipment after charging processing in the processor 2, and the user televises requested pictures on the equipment 6 and uses them.
