METHOD FOR PREVENTING FOAMING OF MOLTEN SLAG CONTAINED IN SLAG PAN

PURPOSE:To make the containing of molten slag of the amt. conforming to the capacity of a slag pan into said pan possible by spraying water for a prescribed period to the molten slag to prevent the foaming of the molten slag in the stage of contg. the molten slag formed from a molten iron in a tapping spout into the slag pan. CONSTITUTION:The molten iron from a blast furnace is desiliconized and dephosphorized by blowing fluxes respectively from the 1st lance 6a and 2nd lance 6b thereto in the 1st reaction region 5a and 2nd reaction region 5b in the stage of dropping the molten iron from said furnace by the tapping spout. The molten slag formed in such a manner is passed respective through the 1st branch slag spout 7a and 2nd branch slag spout 7b and molten iron separating tanks 8a, 8b into each slag pan 13. A prescribed amt. of the water is uniformly sprayed to the surface of the molten slag from nozzles 14 via conduits 15 for a prescribed period. The generation of foam by the molten slag is thus prevented and the molten slag of the amt. conforming to the capacity of the slag pan 13 is contained in said pan.
