METHOD FOR PREVENTING DEVELOPMENT OF SLAG FOAMING IN MOLTEN IRON RECEIVING LADLE

PURPOSE:To effectively prevent the development of slag foaming in a molten iron receiving ladle by allowing desiliconized molten iron together with desiliconized slag to flow into the ladle from a treating vessel and further, adding FeO or Fe2O3-containing granular material into the ladle. CONSTITUTION:In the treating vessel of torpedo car, etc., desiliconizing agent is added into the molten iron to execute the desiliconizing treatment. This desiliconized molten iron is transferred into the molten iron receiving ladle together with the desiliconized slag. Then, slag foaming preventing agent composed of the granular material containing FeO or Fe2O3 is added into the above ladle. This addition is executed during or after receiving the molten iron. Further, as this preventing agent, converter dust grain having about 5-25mm grain diameter, is desirable to use, and others, iron ore, sintered ore, etc., are used, and adding quantity is suitable to be about 200-500kg per heat. By this method, T.Fe concn. in the slag is locally raised and viscosity of the slag is lowered and also vent holes are formed and gas bubble are easily deflated and the development of slag foaming is prevented.
