PURPOSE:The titled drug for animals containing a pyrethroid compound, e.g., 3'- anilino-alpha'-cyanobenzyl dl-cis-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate, as an active constituent, and useful for animals other than humans. CONSTITUTION:An insecticidal and controlling agent for animals containing a pyrethroid compound expressed by formula I (X is Cl or Br) as an active constituent. The compound exhibits very high insecticidal and controlling effect on external parasites, e.g. mites, flies lice, etc. parasitic on cattle, sheep, dog, cat, etc. with low toxicity to humans and animals, and is effectively applicable by pouring on the skin area of these animals or direct method, e.g. spot-on method or indirect means, e.g. ear tag or collar, etc. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting a carboxylic acid expressed by formula II or a reactive derivative thereof with an alcohol expressed by formula III or a reactive derivative thereof.
