The vehicle chassis (1) supports the floor (2) of the box-shaped goods compartment (3). At the rear ends of the compartment side walls are two vertical U-shaped profiles (4,5). In each of these profiles are vertical bars (6,7). The loading and unloading flap (9) is hinged to the bottom ends of the two bars. Near the outer end of the flap on each side, cables (10) are attached. The cables pass through holes (11) in the bars (6,7) and are connected to counter-balance weights inside the bars, after running over pulleys. The pulleys are supported by other cables (14), which run up inside the profiles, over further pulleys which are linked together by a cross shaft, and are finally secured to a spring return mechanism. The common cross-shaft is coupled by a chain gear to a control motor (21).
