The flatbed vehicle includes rear wall flaps (10a) for securing the load in the vehicle longitudinal direction (12a), and the sidewall flaps (13a) hinged to the rear wall flaps for securing the lateral load. The sidewall flaps have an enlarged loading area formed laterally, in the unfolded condition. The sidewall flaps are attached to the platform floor (16a) and are laterally supported in the sidewalls (17a), in the folded condition. The rear wall flaps (11a) are hinged on the specified rear wall flaps. An independent claim is included for a retrofitting method of flatbed vehicle.
