The refrigerator cools the contents of a box, particularly a coffin, and comprises a lid (2) fitting onto the latter and equipped with a refrigerating circuit (3). The latter can be mounted on the underside of the lid, and can comprise a first heat-exchanger for a refrigerating medium and the air in the coffin. The exchanger can consist of a vaporiser, in which the medium absorbs heat when evaporating.
