Cold table (7) for cooling the contents of a coffin comprises a frame (8) with a table top (9) on which the coffin is placed, cooling elements mounted in or beneath the table top for cooling the upper surface of the table top, and bearings in the table top to facilitate transport of the coffin over the table top. An independent claim is also included for transporting a coffin over a cold table with which the contents of the coffin are to be cooled, by placing the coffin on bearings mounted on or in the table, transporting the coffin over the bearings until it reaches the correct position on the table, and fixing the coffin to the table top.
