The drying cylinder (1) of the equipment has mutually parallel channels (4) underneath its surface. At the two ends of the cylinder, both inlet branches (5) and outlet branches (11) for a heat transfer medium are provided. The individual channels (4) are connected to the inlet and outlet branches (5, 11) in such a way that the heat transfer medium flows in opposite directions in each pair of adjacent channels. The channels are either unchanged in cross-section, or their cross-section decreases, so that the flow is accelerated. The heat transfer medium used is a combustion product which is mixed with air. The result of using the equipment is that, in spite of the relatively thin dimension of the cylinder wall, the surface of the drying cylinder (1) has a uniform temperature. IMAGE
