The invention concerns the testing of strength properties of material samples, notably a device for testing (determining) strength properties of material samples of moulding sand mixtures.The device of this invention features a housing (1) with a pressure cylinder (2) with a piston (23) that is movably attached to a pressure surface or pressure platform (4) that is designed to bear the test sample, intended to be fixed at the top with a support face (support platform) (6) in a mechanism (7) for compression of the test sample.The device of this invention is unique in that the pressure cylinder (2) chamber is divided into three atria, of which one atrium (24), which is connected to a pressure gauge (16) and is under the piston and a centre atrium (25) are filled with an inert, non-compressible work medium, such as a silicon organic fluid, while the chamber's lower atrium (30) is connected to an compressed air source.
