Thermoplastic hot plate welding - using heating frame with triangular ridge on one side and flat surface on the other side

Device for use in the hot plate welding of thermoplastic components, specially a container and a rectangular cover for it, consists of a frame, split along a diagonal, which is used as the hot plate. At one side, towards the wider flange of the cover, it is equipped with a traingular ridge which fuses a corresp. groove in the flange. The other side is flat and fuses the flat container rim. After extn. of the device, the two parts are joined by pressure. Used for joining the containers and lids of electrical accumulator cells, made of polyethylene or polypropylene. The method produces a satisfactory and shockproof weld without displacement of the molten material and without risk of misalignment.
