The appts. includes a location probe (20), an extractor probe (10) and an indicator unit (30). The location probe (20) with three Hall-effect generators in its tip, is dimensioned for insertion into the vagina and into the uterus. The indicator unit responds to amplified signals from the locators Hall-effect devices by visibly or audibly indicating the presence and location of the IUD. - The extraction probe, also incorporating Hall-effect devices, is then inserted and positioned next to the IUD using the indicator for guidance. The 'grasping fingers' at its tip are opened by manual depression of plunger (12) to grasp the IUD upon plunger release, and extract it from the uterus.
