The subject of the invention is an adaptor for receiving double-grooved hammer drills, having a constant shank diameter irrespective of their helical diameter, in a toolholder (three-jaw chuck), designed for triple-grooved hammer drills, of a hammer-drilling machine. The object on which the invention is based is to find a way of using double-grooved hammer drills in a hammer-drilling machine equipped with a toolholder for triple-grooved hammer drills, which is simple and involves little cost and which does not adversely affect the functioning and/or handiness of the hammer-drilling machine. To achieve this object, the invention provides an adaptor which is designed as a sleeve (1) which can be pushed onto the respective shank of a double-grooved drill and is provided with three longitudinal recesses (2, 3, 4) distributed uniformly on the circumference and cooperating with the clamping jaws of the toolholder and which contains, at least in one groove, a radially resilient take-up element (7) fitting with an engaging effect into a groove (8, 8') of the double-grooved hammer drill.
