The below-described bale thrower throws bales of stalk crop, such as hay and straw, out of the loading chute of a high-pressure baling press on to an attached trailer, thereby avoiding the need for a person on the trailer. It is mounted on the end of the loading chute and is operated by the tractor driver by the actuation of a valve. If the loading person is on the rear part of the trailer, the bales are thrown to him by the bale thrower, but if he is on the front part of the trailer, the bale thrower is inoperative and the bales leave the loading chute in the way known hitherto.
