Bills to be deposited or disbursed are accumulated on a mounting plate 59/74, at the lower end of which there is a gap 76 for allowing passage of bills between a front plate 75 and the mounting plate 74, the gap being opened and closed by gate 78. Plate 75 also aligns the bills on plate 74. An accumulating wheel 9 receives bills from the inside of the machine and drops them onto the mounting plate to be dispensed.
