The transmission cable includes a sealed jacket 10 for protection from external agents, containing a tube 14 for accommodating optical fibres, and a padding (filling) 22 for tensile strength. The jacket includes two opposite grooves 24 for guiding a sharp-edged prescoring (precutting) tool 26. Right in line with the grooves, the jacket is separated from the tube by carrier means, made from non-metallic material, so as to enable the jacket to be cut without damaging the tube. IMAGE
