Method and device for irradiating a blood vessel in living tissue with laser radiation with a view to producing a coagulation of the blood in the vessel. The method consists in producing the irradiation using a laser radiation of wavelength between 417 and 427 nanometres. The device comprises a cell 4 containing dye disposed on the path of the beam 2 emitted by a nitrogen laser emitter 1, and means 6, 8, 10 for directing the laser radiation 5 leaving the cell 4 with the dye towards the vessel 11.
