POLYMER SCALE DEPOSITION INHIBITOR AND INHIBITION OF POLYMER SCALE DEPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled inhibitor which can inhibit polymer scale deposition regardless of the kind of the monomer and the polymerization recipe used, by using a condensate of an aromatic amine compound with a quinone or a base containing this condensate as a component of the inhibitor. CONSTITUTION:A polymer scale deposition inhibitor comprising a base containing a condensate of an aromatic amine compound with a quinone or both of this condensate and an alkali metal or ammonium salt of a sulfonic or carboxylic acid having at least five conjugated pi bonds. This inhibitor makes it possible to inhibit markedly the deposition of polymer scale on areas in contact with a monomer, such as the inside wall, agitator and agitator shaft of a polymerization vessel, and especially the deposition of polymer scale near the vapor-liquid interface in a polymerization vessel, where polymer deposition easily occurs, can be inhibited. This effect can bring about advantages also in a variety of polymerization processes such as suspension polymerization, emulsion polymerization and bulk polymerization.
