LIGHT SHIELDING METHOD IN INERT GAS ARC WELDING AND FIXED LIGHT SHIELDING TYPE ELECTRODE HOLDER AND SLIDING LIGHT SHIELD TYPE ELECTRODE HOLDER

PURPOSE:To improve safety and workability by disposing a light shielding plate to enclose the upper side at the top end of an electrode so that the light and spark in the stage of welding are shut off on the electrode holder side. CONSTITUTION:The dark-colored semi-transparent light shielding plate 4 consisting of heat resistant glass is fixed to and projected from the upper half at the peripheral edge in the aperture 1 of a collet 3 of a fixed light shielding type electrode holder A. the large-sized light shielding plate 4' is further disposed as a replacement for the plate 4 on the upper side at he horizontal root end of the collet 3 if necessary. A sliding type light shielding plate is otherwise freely slidably disposed together with the plate 4 in the collet 3 and is made slidable and projectable in the stage of welding. the light and spark in the stage of welding are shut off on the electrode holder side by the above- mentioned method, by which the need for using a mask is eliminated and the safety and workability in the stage of welding are improved.
