The self inflated lifeboat is a self contained sailing craft. The boat is compressed air inflated and housed in a metal container (2). This also serves as keel. The container mouth is a hollow metal cylinder. At the base of this, four horizontal arms (4,5) branch out, formed by telescopic rods. On pneumatic expulsion a fifth vertical arm (3), also of telescopic rods, rises from the cylinder. The four arms form jaws to hold the hull (1) along its outside. The cylinder is joined to the boat air chamber by a flexible pipe (8).
