Stable solutions of metal chelates, method for their preparation and their use as trace element fertilizers

Aqueous solutions which are stable on storage contain chelate complexes of the metals iron, manganese, copper, zinc or cobalt with aminocarboxylic acids as chelating agents. They are characterised in that nitrate salts of the appropriate metal ions are mixed with the chelating agents in aqueous solution and the pH of the solution is 4 to 8. These solutions ensure a high availability of the metal ions to the plant when used as trace element fertilisers, even in the presence of the principal nutrients. They are furthermore particularly pH-tolerant and stable on storage.
