The invention relates to a method and a circuit arrangement for adaptive decision feedback equalisation of line signals in electrical communications. In high-speed digital signal transmission, the line signal arriving in a device has so-called post-oscillations due to shortcomings in the transmission path. These post-oscillations can be cancelled with an adaptive decision feedback equaliser. The adaptation must be performed within a pre-defined time. In order to achieve the high convergence speed required for this purpose, it is known for the adjustment step factor required for coefficient calculation to be designed as variable. The invention describes an inexpensive derivation of a variable adjustment step factor.
