The invention relates to a protection roller blind for an opening in roofs which are essentially horizontal or of low slope or with counterslope. It will be in particular but not exclusively intended to equip a veranda roof. The roller blind 1 essentially consists of an articulated curtain 2 sliding in guiding means 4 placed in the plane of the opening to be protected 7, and by a reception drum which is mounted in a protection casing 6 and on which the curtain 2 is rolled up. According to the invention, the blind 1 comprises means for automatic rolling up 10 capable of creating a torque which is applied permanently on the reception drum to compel the rolling-up of the curtain 2 around the said drum, interacting with complementary means for unrolling 12 acting on the end part 3 of the curtain 2, able either to keep the curtain 2 in a stable position or to overcome the permanent torque 11 of the said means for rolling up 10.
