PRINTER INCORPORATING CHARACTERS FOR JAPANESE ZIP CODE NUMBER

PURPOSE:To enhance the possibility of accurately reading Japanese zip code numbers by a zip code number reader, by incorporating two kinds of numeral font of MINCHO typeface and a numeral font for characters for the zip code numbers into a ROM, and printing a number by selectively using one of the two fonts. CONSTITUTION:When it is desired to print a numeral '0'-'9' of MINCHO typeface by a printer, an ESC alpha and a code for '0' are sequentially sent to the printer, whereby a control is conducted so that the desired numeral '0' of the desired typeface is read from a ROM, and is printed. Similarly, when an ESC beta and the code for '0' are sequentially sent to the printer, '0' of the typeface for characters for zip code numbers is printed by the printer. The control codes alpha and beta are shown by way of example. At the time of printing a zip code number on a postal card or an envelope, the ESC beta is sent from a host device to the printer, and then codes for numerals for the zip code number are sent to the printer, whereby the zip code number is printed.
