PURPOSE:To obtain a novel boron atom-containing high polymer, having a semipolar structure, capable of exhibiting excellent action as an interface modifying agent and suitable as an electromagnetic wave shielding coating material, etc., by specific triesterification reaction or polyetherification reaction. CONSTITUTION:1mol boric acid or a triester thereof with a =4C lower alcohol or 0.5mol boric anhydride is reacted with 1mol total of one or more compounds expressed by formula I [q is 0 or 1 and A is -(X)l-(Y)m-(Z)n- (X and Z are oxygen-containing hydrocarbon group having one terminal ether residue and =100 total number of carbon atoms; Y is formula II, etc.; R is 1-34C hydrocarbon group; l, m and n are 0 or 1) when q is 1] to carry out triesterification reaction. Alternatively, polyesterification reaction of di(glycerol)diborate is carried out, etc., to afford the aimed organoboron high polymer expressed by formula III (p is 10-1,000).
