PURPOSE:To obtain the titled film excellent in drawability, impact resistance, and water resistance, and good in pulling strength and elastic coefficient, by compression molding an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene powder at a temperature of its melting point or higher into a sheet that is in the unorientated state, and by stretching biaxially it after cooling at its melting point or over. CONSTITUTION:An ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene powder having a viscosity-average molecular weight of down to 700,000 is compression molded at its melting point into a sheet that is in the unorientated state, then after cooling it, the sheet is biaxially stretched at a temperature of its melting point or higher but up to 150 deg.C so that the width and length are increased 2-5 times respectively thereby providing the aimed film whose surfaces are roughened and whose central line average roughness Ra value measured using a cut-off value of 0.8mm. is at least 1.4mu. Preferably, the compression molding of the ultra-high- molecular-weight polyethylene is carried out at a temperature of 220-250 deg.C and a pressure of 5-10MPa.
