NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic 1907 of the formula (R is H or CH3) and a salt thereof. EXAMPLE:Antibiotic 1907 II. USE:An antimicrobial agent and antitumor agent having a wide antimicrobial activity against bacteria, yeasts, molds, etc., and capable of exhibiting an antitumor activity against murine leukemic L1210 cells, sarcoma 180 astiiic cancer etc. PROCESS:A strai of Paecilomyces lilacinus No. 1907 (FERM-P No. 5715) is cultivated preferably in a liquid under aerobic conditions, and a solid substance is removed from the resultant culture fluid. The aimed substance is then extracted with ethyl acetae, etc. The obtained extract is adsorbed and eluted or subjected to the purifying operation, e.g. gel filtration, to isolate the aimed antibiotic 1907.
