The equipment comprises perforated cylinders and half cylinders which guide the metal (prim. aluminium) strip along a wavy path. Electrolyte is passed through the perforations. Electrolyte is contained in a pressurised space enclosed by the perforated half-cylinder. An acid-resistant, perforated metal cover is located above the half-cylinder and provided with an electrical conductor, which is covered by an insulating grid. The electrolyte fills the space between this insulating grid and the metal strip to be treated, and allows friction free transport of the metal strip and the passage of electrical current between the perforated metal cover and the metal strip.
