Coating compositions based on reactive metal pigments for protecting metallic or other substrates, obtained by mixing two liquid and/or pasty phases, one, A, containing the film-forming polymeric material, the other, B, a crosslinking agent for the said film-forming material, both phases optionally containing various other known adjuvants and characterised in that, in order to endow them with an excellent resistance to environmental attack, in particular corrosion, phase A is made up: A1 of at least one film-forming polymer containing at least one epoxy group per molecule; A2 optionally of at least one vinyl polymer; A3 of at least one reactive metal pigment at a concentration of not more than 70 % by weight relative to the total mass of the said compositions; A4 of at least one agent for adjusting rheological characteristics at a concentration of at least 1.8 % by weight relative to the total mass, and A5 of at least one organic solvent for the said polymers A1 and A2; then, phase B is made up: B1 of at least one hardener for the epoxy polymer; B2 optionally of at least one agent for adjusting the rheological characteristics, and B3 of at least one organic solvent compatible with the hardener and phase A.
